Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Mercado La Galiciana, an enchanting culinary haven nestled in the heart of Santiago de Compostela! Located at Rua de Gomez Ulla, 1, Bajo, this vibrant food court is much more than just a restaurant; it's a gastronomic journey that celebrates diverse flavors and traditions. With its industrial chic design, echoing its previous life as a warehouse, the ambiance is as inviting as the array of delectable dishes!

One of the standout features of Mercado La Galiciana is its eclectic menu, which encompasses a variety of cuisines, from traditional Galician dishes to international flavors. How can we talk about Galician cuisine without mentioning the iconic Pulpo a feira? This dish features tender octopus served with premium olive oil, salt, and a blend of both sweet and spicy paprika—truly a must-try at €14.90. Another local favorite is the Carrilleras de Cerdo al Mencía, succulent slow-cooked pork cheeks paired with the exquisite Mencía wine and accompanied by a medley of roasted vegetables and Galician potatoes, also priced at €14.90. For those craving a meat feast, the Churrasco Mixto promises tender grilled ribs of pork and beef that will delight any carnivore.

Visiting Mercado La Galiciana is not just about the food; it's an experience. The hustle and bustle of the market creates a lively atmosphere that captures the essence of communal dining. Don't just take my word for it—Elena Tozlovanu describes the vibrant ambiance as "cool" and notes that while the Galician options may have room for improvement, the pizza is exceptional. Ecre A raves about the efficiency of the staff, who seamlessly navigate the crowded spaces, ensuring everyone's dining experience is smooth.

If you're in the mood for dessert, be sure to try the Tarte de Queso, a creamy cheesecake that has won the hearts of many patrons like Caio Narezzi. And when it comes to refreshments, nothing beats the house-made gelato, which Ekaterina Borisova describes as comparable to some of the best in Santiago!

Mercado La Galiciana stands out not just for its food but also for the remarkable service and inviting atmosphere. The unified menu system allows guests to order from any stall right at their table—a convenient feature that enhances the overall dining experience. Whether you're enjoying a casual meal with friends or indulging in a festive feast, this modern food market is a delightful spot that exudes warmth and culinary joy.

So grab a seat, explore the varied offerings, and immerse yourself in the flavors of Santiago de Compostela at Mercado La Galiciana! You won't regret it!

Cool vibe kinda place. Food was good, but not the best when it comes to Galician choices. Pizza was brilliant tho. We went on a evening when a festival was in town and didn't have to wait. The next day we went around lunchtime and there it was a queue. We decided not to wait as we were tight for time. Went somewhere else.

The salad was excellent and the gelato comparable to other places in Santiago de Compostela. The staff members kept walking fast from table-kitchen-table-table, seem very efficient. Few steps from our hotel Gelmirez. It can get extremely crowded down/upstairs, but not sure if they accept reservations.

An amazing food court in Santiago, it features an industrial design, which makes sense since it used to be a warehouse. They offer all kinds of food—Spanish, Asian, Italian, and more. The food was incredible, and the service was excellent. I was there for dinner with local friends who took me there.

They have different options of food, but we got here for the Tarte de Queso and it was not disappoint, it is really good! I will try again next time for sure. And the staff was helpful and nice.

I absolutely love this place and visit every time I’m in Santiago! There’s plenty of choice (Asian, Galician, Italian, and other cuisine), generous portions, great food quality, friendly staff, and an amazing atmosphere. If you enjoy modern food markets with lots of food stalls, this is definitely the place for you. What I especially like here is that they have a unified menu for all stalls, and you can order everything right from your table—super convenient!

A place where locals eat. Great variety of local Galician and Spanish favourites as well as Italian, French and some other fare. The seafood are fresh and cooked well. Service is attentive and quick.

A lot of food choices. Service and ambiance is really nice. We ordered the paella and was already good for two. We enjoyed it a lot. Well recommended in Santiago de Compostela.
